End of the World: 2012

Some believe the world will end at 11:11 am G.M.T. on the 21st December 2012. The basis of this belief is founded on that being the date when the Maya Long Count Calendar expires. Also at that time the Earth, Sun and the center of the Milky Way will be in perfect alignment, a rare occurrence. That date also marks the end of the Age of Pisces and the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

Another theory knocking around is that a massive planet that some call Nibiru will pass by Earth causing a pole shift and consequently the end of civilization. NASA have been accused of doctoring photos of outer space to cover up the presence of Nibiru.

All in all this is a fascinating subject and one that will grow and grow until it is discussed everyday in MSM as we approach our "date of destiny". All very fascinating, I'm relying on you to enlighten me. What say you? Discuss...

Treasure: Oak Island, Nova Scotia, Canada

The quintessential buried treasure mystery. Oak Island is located of the South coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, at 44°31′00″N 64°17′57″W to be precise.

The elaborate water trap has led many to believe there is an immeasurable treasure at the bottom of the so called "Money Pit" on the island. Some say it is the pirate William Kidd's treasure, some say it is Marie Antoinette's jewels, maybe even the original manuscripts to prove that Francis Bacon authored the majority of William Shakespeare's works.

The "Money Pit" first discovered in 1795 has gone on to obsess many people, former U.S. President F.D.Roosevelt included. Also it has unfortunately claimed the lives of six men so far over the years of excavations.

So what lies at the bottom of the pit and who put it there? What say you? Discuss...

Bermuda Triangle: Flight 19

Flight 19 consisted of five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers on a navigational training flight out of Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale, Florida U.S.A. They took off on 5th December 1945 headed out towards the Bahamas on a dummy bombing run unfortunately none of 14 airmen would ever return, and to compound the tragedy another 13 crewmen were lost aboard a PBM Mariner flying boat that had been dispatched to search for Flight 19.

There is voice recording evidence of a compass malfunction, but in all 5 planes? The flight instructor was very experienced, so what when wrong? No identifiable wreckage has ever been found, so what happened to Flight 19? Were they just another victim of the infamous Bermuda Triangle? What say you? Discuss...

Ancient Wonder: Stonehenge

A prehistoric monument located in the County of Wiltshire in England. This circle of stone has baffled many and been the focal point of debate and conjecture about the capabilities of our ancient relatives. Commonly thought to have been started circa 3000 BC this monument has been aligned to correctly identify important dates in the annual calendar. Also the stones weighing many tons were not available to be quarried locally, begging the question of how they got there and what manpower was required to set them in place? Was it an old calendar that doubled as an alter for druid sacrifices? Throw in a few Arthurian rumors and you have the quintessential prehistoric enigma.

So why? How? What for? What say you? Discuss...

Lost City: Atlantis

I believe there is one thing we can all agree on when it comes to Lost Cities, Atlantis is the poster child. Simply put, did it ever exist and if so, where?

We can thank Plato for kicking off this debate circa 360 BC, for he was the first to make recorded mention of the long lost seafaring superpower. It is a commonly held view that Atlantis was located in the Atlantic Ocean to the West of the Straights of Gibraltar. However some have found evidence that Atlantis may have been closer to Plato's Greek home.

So the questions. If, then where? And what of the lack of evidence from a formidable seafaring civilization? What say you? Discuss...

Ghost Ship: Mary Celeste

The Mary Celeste was a merchant ship found by the brigantine Dei Gratia, under full sail without crew on 4th December 1872 in the East Atlantic Ocean at 38" 20' N, 17" 15' W, having set out from New York bound for Genoa less than a month beforehand. With plenty of provisions on board and the vessel in prime sailing condition where had the crew gone? Was it the victim of a storm? Had there been a mutiny? Was disease the answer to this ghost ship conundrum? Or was it an insurance scam perhaps? What say you? Discuss...
